Whether it was because the circus had left town, or that the traditional British summer returned with its cooler temperatures and occasional showers, but the second week at Easton Farm Park Campsite seemed far more settled. A relaxed and tranquil atmosphere prevailed. The combines could be heard threshing in the fields, the air was scented with wild-flowers and cut grass, and the fledging swallows were revelling in their fresh skills of flight. Campers were seen disappearing off to fish, or to cycle through the beautiful Suffolk countryside. It seemed a period to pause and appreciate. A real get back to nature week. One camper summed it perfectly, 'This type of place is why we camp.' Long may it continue.
Having said that, the campsite team keep throwing ideas around for improvements including massages on site, pizza nights and even bingo, anything it seems to disrupt the peace. But for the time being, the harvest continues unabated, the bats litter the sky and the stars look brighter than ever. Countryside bliss.
