What a weekend! Even though we've been open for barely a month, we were fully
booked. It was a bank holiday weekend. The last of the summer. And it was a scorcher.
It was exciting to see the campsite field full of tents and caravans, and good to note how much space there is on the campsite, even when full.
All our fire-pits were rented out and I was kept busy ferrying wood to stoke the many fires. At night, the campsite looked like an army on the eve of battle, reminiscent of a scene from Game of Thrones. Children were playing cricket and football, adults were throwing Frisbees, and the air was thick with the aromas of barbecuing fish and meat. It was just how camping should be.
It has been a fabulous first summer and we have learned a huge amount on this opening stage of our campsite journey. There are still things to be done to improve our facilities and the customer experience for 2020, including stocking our shop with some lovely Suffolk produce, a few campsite essentials and a fair bit of Autumn planting on the camping field.
Our first season campers left Easton feeling happy, refreshed and some a little red faced. Stories were told. Memories were made. And some youngsters even ditched their devices for a healthy dose of fresh air!
